The short versionWe collect your boxes, store them safely, and bring them back. At booking you either pay a £25 reservation fee or the full estimated amount. After collection, we calculate the final total based on what was actually collected and invoice you for any remaining balance, or refund the difference. The £25 fee is refundable if you cancel at least 72 hours before collection. Storage is charged weekly with a 4-week minimum and a £75 minimum order. Our liability is capped at £100 per item. Don't pack anything dangerous, perishable or alive. Redelivery to the same uni town is included — a different town costs £20 per item. If charges go unpaid for 60+ days, we may dispose of goods. 1. These Terms

These terms and conditions apply to the storage, collection and redelivery services supplied by Simple Uni Storage Ltd. By placing an order with us, you agree to be bound by these terms.

3. Formation of Contract

A contract is formed when we email you confirming acceptance of your booking.

We may refuse a booking due to operational capacity, postcode restrictions, pricing errors or operational constraints.

We operate only within postcode areas listed on our website.

4. Description of Services

We provide:

  • Delivery of storage boxes and packing tape (where included)
  • Collection of packed items
  • Secure storage
  • Redelivery at an agreed future date

Minimum storage term: 4 weeks.

5. Pricing

5.1 Minimum Order Value

Minimum order value: £75.

Weight and size limits apply as stated at booking. All prices are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.

There are no handling fees.

7. Payment

A £25 collection reservation fee is payable at booking to secure your collection date. This is deducted from your total storage charges.

The £25 reservation fee is refundable only if:

  • You cancel at least 72 hours before your scheduled collection time; and
  • All delivered boxes and tape are returned in good condition.

If cancellation occurs within 72 hours of collection, the £25 reservation fee is non-refundable.

You may either:

  • Pay the remaining balance on the day of collection based on actual items collected; or
  • Pay the full estimated amount at booking.

Final charges are based on actual items collected. If fewer items are collected, any overpayment will be refunded. If more items are collected, additional charges apply.

We may collect and store goods even if payment has not cleared. However, we reserve the right to retain stored goods and refuse redelivery until all outstanding charges are paid in full.

Interest may be charged on overdue amounts at 4% above the Bank of England base rate.

8. Boxes and Packing Materials

Boxes and tape may be delivered free of charge for use with our service. All boxes remain the property of Simple Uni Storage Ltd.

If you cancel after delivery and fail to return materials, or fail to return unused materials when requested, we may charge:

  • £2.50 per unreturned box
  • £2.50 per unreturned roll of tape

9. Customer Packing Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for packing your items. We do not pack boxes or inspect contents. You must ensure items are properly packed, sealed and within weight limits.

9.1 Overweight or Improperly Packed Items

If items are overweight, unsafe or improperly packed, we may:

  • Refuse collection
  • Repack items
  • Split items into multiple boxes

A £10 repacking fee per item/box applies. If repacking results in additional boxes, each box will be charged at the applicable weekly storage rate for the full storage term.

9.2 Damage from Packing or Contamination

We are not responsible for damage caused by inadequate packing, glass breakage, leaking liquids, food contamination, infestation or prohibited items.

If prohibited items cause damage to our property, vehicles, premises or other customers' goods, you will be liable for resulting losses and clean-up costs.

10. Prohibited Items

You must not store:

  • Items in bin bags, plastic bags or laundry bags
  • Mirrors
  • Antiques
  • Toxic, polluted or contaminated goods
  • Firearms, munitions or explosives
  • Flammable or hazardous goods
  • Any item emitting fumes or odours
  • Food or perishable goods
  • Any opened bottled liquids
  • Living plants or animals
  • Cash and securities
  • Illegal or illegally obtained goods
  • Waste

We may refuse, remove or dispose of prohibited items without liability.

11. Redelivery

Redelivery to an address within the same university town where collection originally took place is included in the storage service.

If you request redelivery to an address in a different town, this will be treated as shipping and charged at £20 per item/box.

Early redelivery is subject to operational availability. Storage charges apply for the full booked storage period. No refund will be given for any unused portion of the booked storage term if goods are returned early.

12. Storage Term and Extensions

Storage continues for the agreed minimum term. If you do not request redelivery at the agreed end date, storage will automatically continue and weekly storage charges will accrue until redelivery is arranged.

13. Abandoned Goods and Non-Payment

If storage charges remain unpaid for 60 days, or we are unable to contact you, we may treat the goods as abandoned.

We may give written notice requiring payment within 14 days. If payment is not received, we reserve the right to dispose of or sell the goods to recover outstanding charges. Any proceeds will be applied to sums owed, with any reasonable surplus returned where possible.

14. Liability

We will exercise reasonable care in handling stored items. Our liability is limited to £100 per box/item unless agreed otherwise in writing.

We are not liable for:

  • Damage due to inadequate packing
  • Damage caused by prohibited items
  • Leakage, contamination or infestation
  • Pre-existing damage
  • Indirect or consequential loss

Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

15. Claims

Any claim for loss or damage must be made in writing within 7 days of redelivery of the goods. We will investigate any claim promptly and fairly.

16. Delays Outside Our Control

We are not liable for delays caused by events outside our control including severe weather, traffic disruption or building access restrictions.

17. Data Protection

We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and use it to provide services, process payment and communicate booking details. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

18. Governing Law

These terms are governed by English law.
